Workforce Overview

The Central Wisconsin School-To-Career Partnership which is coordinated under the Marshfield Area Chamber Foundation, involves community organizations, area businesses, post-secondary institutions, and the school districts of Auburndale, Granton, Greenwood, Marshfield Public and Catholic, Pittsville, Spencer and Stratford. We are a not for profit organization funded in part by grants, participating school districts and the generous contributions of area businesses.

Our mission is to provide community leadership in the development and operation of partnerships between business and education, which focus resources in the development of our workforce.

Many community partnerships have been developed through the help of hundreds of area volunteers. Volunteers work on committees, serve as mentors, provide tours of their business, “staff” the reality store and serve as guest speakers.

Programs under the Central Wisconsin School-To-Career partnership include:

"A Dedicated and Quality Workforce - Our Business has Truly Found a Home"

We work closely with our schools, as well as our employers to address current and future workforce needs here in Central Wisconsin. Read what a local businessman says about Marshfield's workforce below:

CMS Direct is a leading, full service direct marketing business partner located in a 6,700 sq. ft. office facility on 2.4 acres in Marshfield's Mill Creek Business Park. Headquartered in New Brighton, Minnesota, CMS Direct has enjoyed over 23 years of success, due in part to a strong presence in Marshfield for the past six years. CMS Direct also includes The Prefer Network, the fastest growing collaborative database in the nation, with offices in New York City, Virginia and Colorado. In total, CMS Direct employs about 150 people - 30 of those capable individuals are in Marshfield.

While there is always risk with a remote expansion, CMS Direct's move to Marshfield has been rewarded many times over. A ready, creative, and dedicated workforce trained in the core skills has helped us improve our competitive position in the marketplace. And with the abundance of well-educated people in the greater Marshfield area, and the near proximity of so many colleges, I'm confident we will be able to fill openings as we continue to grow. We have already nearly tripled our employee base since launching the office, and I foresee significant hiring still to come. In fact, even though we moved into this great facility only 2-1/2 years ago, we've already given thought to its expansion.

As the CMS Direct executive team recognized early on, lifestyle choices and long-term commitments to the central Wisconsin area are vitally important to people here. Our employees are surrounded by family and life-long friends, and all are enthusiastic about the recreation and leisure-time options available. It is my belief that these are key contributors to their overall level of satisfaction, in their lives generally as well as in their jobs. In six years of operation in Marshfield, we have had only two employees choose to leave - one to pursue a dramatic career change and the other to fill a unique niche position with a local company.

Our open, flexible office building provides a high quality work environment for our staff. In addition, it is a symbol of our commitment to the area and our vision for the future. If a qualified, dedicated workforce is important to the success of your business or organization, I encourage you to consider Marshfield. It has been a major factor in our success.
