State Technical Assistance Programs

Brownfields Initiative Technical Assistance Program provides information and assistance related to brownfields redevelopment. The program can assist in the identification and resolution of regulatory issues, and electronically link prospective buyers with information on available brownfield sites. (608) 266-3494

Industrial Recycling Assistance Program conducts site visits and detailed assessments to help manufacturers find the best available solutions for waste management and waste reduction problems. (920) 465-2327

Small Business Ombudsman provides information on government regulations and financing alternatives to small businesses, particularly entrepreneurs. (608) 267-9384.

Wisconsin Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Support Program coordinates resources to help businesses pursue federal SBIR grants and contracts. The federal SBIR program provides Phase I awards of up to $100,000 for feasibility studies and Phase II awards of up to $750,000 for project development. (608) 267-0313

Agent Municipality Programs are partnerships between municipalities, counties, and DOC to provide consultation, review, and inspection services related to building construction and building systems. Localities may obtain authority to provide plumbing or building plan review services, for example, by organizing a defined service ability. (608) 267-7586

International Development Program assists businesses in learning how to begin or expand their export efforts. (608) 267-9227

Wisconsin Manufacturing Extension Partnerships is a collaborative public-private partnership, bringing together federal, state and local resources, with a mission to promote the competitiveness, strength, productivity, growth, and innovative capabilities of Wisconsin’s nearly 10,000 small and medium-sized manufacturers. Suggestions are given to improve work flow, inventory control, evaluate technologies, environmental control, and new product development.
